| The Okanagan is renowned throughout North America and the world for supplying some of the most appealing champagne powder snow that has ever graced the high mountaintops of Canada. Whether you ski or snowboard, the conditions at the four major ski facilities in the Okanagan are ideal for your needs. Big White, the largest of the ski hills in the Valley, sprawls over 2075 acres of prime terrain that receives more than 24 feet of powder annually. Nine lifts, including four high-speed quads, make easy access and minimal waiting time, allowing for 17,800 skiers to be propelled up the Monashee Mountains per hour. Having hosted the Canadian Snowboard Championships, Big White is fast becoming one of North America’s riding capitals. At Big White, guests find much more than great skiing and great snow, the village comes alive at night with a large variety of restaurants, clubs and bars, serving international cuisine. Silver Star Mountain, located just outside of Vernon, offers two mountain faces with a 2500' vertical drop. There are 84 runs across 1440 acres, plus 400 acres of gladded or open bowl terrain. The village, modeled in a Victorian theme, is central to the ski lifts and provides easy access to the many amenities. Crystal Mountain, located 15 minutes out of Westbank, is the ideal family fun hill. If offers optimum conditions and is equipped with three lifts, a licensed cafeteria and rental shop. Plus it’s fit for those on a tight budget and is perfect for the beginner or intermediate skier or boarder. Apex Mountain, located 45 minutes outside of Penticton, offers everything from dog sledding and snow shoeing to excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Featuring four lifts, including a high-speed quad, the 56 runs are easily accessible and offer all challenges across 550 acres.
